My most recent inspiration comes from the Chicago-based puppetry group, Manual Cinema. I have written about them here, and I will add more in this space, very soon. I can tell you that my most recent presentation ("Cruel Auteurism") at the Conference on College Composition and Communication (March 2015) was overwhelmingly inspired by Manual Cinema's use of shadow puppets, overhead projectors, live actors, and a commitment to transparent architectonics and multimodal digital storytelling. My CCCC performance included my reading and the simultaneous screening of a short impressionistic film I made during a frantic whirl of inspired activity following my joyfully vibratory experience of Manual Cinema's performance, Mementos Mori at Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA).
